Plot Synopsis

Set at an exclusive Hawaiian resort, the first season of this social satirefollows the vacations of various hotel guests over the span of a week as they relax and rejuvenate in paradise. But with each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travelers, the hotel's cheerful employees and the idyllic locale itself. Among the employees at The White Lotus are the fastidious resort manager Armond , who, after a sudden trauma, begins a dramatic downward spiral-- and the down-to-earth spa manager, Belinda who gets taken on an emotional roller coaster ride by a needy guest. The vacationers include the Mossbacher family -- Nicole, a successful type-A exec, who can't help but treat her family like disobedient employees; her husband, Mark, dealing with both an embarrassing health crisis and a terminal inferiority complex; their teenaged son, Quinn, a socially awkward gamer, experiencing the wonder of nature for the very first time; their daughter, Olivia, and her friend, Paula, sharp-tongued college sophomores who cast a sardonic eye on the lifestyles and belief systems of everyone around them. The handsome, entitled Shane Patton is here with his beautiful bride, Rachel. Shane and Rachel are in the throes of young love, but as they get to know each other better in this new, intimate environment, clouds of doubt appear -- and by the time Shane's intrusive mother, Kitty surprises them with an unwelcome visit, their fairytale honeymoon has begun to unravel. And finally, there is Tanya McQuoid, a wealthy, unstable woman, recovering from the death of her mother, traveling alone to the hotel, looking for love and in desperate need of a massage. Created, written and directed by Mike White and filmed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea (Maui, Hawaii).

On Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT, HBO premiered the second installment of THE WHITE LOTUS, which is set at an exclusive Sicilian resort and follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week. Main characters in the second season are: Valentina, the passionate, dedicated manager in charge of the White Lotus resort in Taormina, who expects perfection from her staff; Bert Di Grasso -- who is visiting Sicily with his son, Dominic, and grandson, Albie -- is getting frail, yet still sees himself as virile and capable; Dominic Di Grasso, a Hollywood producer, who is visiting Sicily with his elderly father, Bert, and post-college son, Albie, to explore their ancestral roots; Albie Di Grasso, Dominic's son and Bert's grandson, who is a sweet and observant college grad, often serving as his family's peacekeeper; Tanya McQuoid-Hun, a wealthy, unstable woman, traveling with her husband, Greg, and assistant, Portia; Greg, Tanya's husband, who is less than pleased to find her assistant invited on their romantic getaway; Portia, a small-town girl and recent college graduate, who is traveling with her boss, Tanya, hoping for adventure; Daphne Babcock, a stay-at-home mom visiting Italy with her husband, Cameron, and another couple, Ethan and Harper; Cameron Babcock, a wildly successful businessman from a wealthy family, who is vacationing with his wife Daphne, his college roommate Ethan, and Ethan's wife Harper; Harper Spiller, newly wealthy after her husband finds professional success, as the couple visit Italy with Ethan's college roommate, Cameron, and Cameron's wife, Daphne; Ethan Spiller, who after recently striking professional success, is invited with wife Harperto vacation in Italy with his college roommate, Cameron, and Cameron's wife, Daphne; Quentin, an English expat, who is vacationing with his friends and his nephew, Jack; Jack, a magnetic guest staying at The White Lotus with his uncle, Quentin; Mia, a Sicilian local, who is a talented singer in search of her big break; and Lucia, also a Sicilian local, who frequents the White Lotus resort in search of work and opportunity amongst the wealthy clientele.

Season 3 of THE WHITE LOTUS debuts on Sunday, February 16, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on HBO. The eight-episode new season of the social satire is set at an exclusive Thai resort and follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week. Main cast and characters include:

- Patrick Schwarzenegger as Saxon Ratliff: the eldest son of Timothy and Victoria Ratliff, Saxon works for his father's successful company

- Aimee Lou Wood as Chelsea: a free-spirit, traveling with her on-edge older boyfriend Rick
