Plot Synopsis

WILL is a one-hour drama series that goes back in time to Elizabethan England to tell the wild, rowdy story of young William Shakespeare and his arrival onto the punk-rock theater scene that was 16th century London -- the seductive, violent world where his raw talent faced rioting audiences, religious fanatics and raucous side-shows. Along the way, Will convinces Richard Burbage that there's more to acting than the crowd's adoration, allowing the pair to eventually form the greatest actor-writer partnership the world has ever seen. Plus, Will and Richard's sister, Alice, develop a star-crossed passion, while Richard's father, James, is a carpenter with a vision to build the first theatre in London since Roman times: a 3,000-seat auditorium that became so famous it was simply called The Theatre. WILL premiered on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 9-11pm ET/PT, as TNT debuted back-to-back new episodes;

"The Play's the Thing" (9pm): It's 1589, a time of religious turmoil in Protestant England when to be Catholic could be a death sentence -- Will Shakespeare arrives from the small town of Stratford to the wild streets of London with little more than a dream and a treacherous letter.

"Cowards Die Many Times" (10pm): Will is wracked with guilt over the arrest of the rival playwright, Baxter, and he makes a dangerous confession to the beautiful and rebellious Alice. The future of the theatre is threatened when the crowd-pleasing actor, Kemp, is tempted by another playhouse.
