Plot Synopsis

Physicist and professor Brian Cox explores the solar system to investigate how the laws of nature have carved spectacular landscapes throughout the universe -- from the mysterious liquid methane seas of Titan to Mar's Grand Canyon, the Valles Marines. In this series, Professor Cox explains how the sun is the powerhouse of our solar system, how the rings of Saturn formed from a chaotic cloud of gas, how the size of a planet dictates whether or not it can sustain life, and why the search for aliens has followed the search for water. Science Channel aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 9pm ET/PT.
