Plot Synopsis

Based on the success of the United States Tennis Association's Tennis Night in America, the International Tennis Federation started World Tennis Day in 2013 as a way to attract new participants to the sport. The inaugural event on Monday, March 4, 2013 featured BNP Paribas Showdowns in Honk Kong and New York's Madison Square Garden, with two matches in each city: Ivan Lendl vs. John McEnroe and Li Na vs. Caroline Wozniacki in Hong Kong (televised live on Tennis Channel); and Serena Williams vs. Victoria Azarenka and Juan Martin del Potro vs. Rafael Nadal in New York (televised live on ESPN2). Plus, Tennis Channel aired other programs throughout the day to celebrate the first World Tennis Day.
