Plot Synopsis

This two-part special tells the stories of ten soldiers and civilians who were caught in the last days of World War II, changing their lives forever and providing unique insight into some of the most terrifying days in history. The lives of these ten people in Berlin, Holland, the Baltic and Italy were forever shaped by the chaos and devastation around them. One captured a city. One hid for her life. One tried to bring relief to a starving nation. One stumbled upon the Third Reich's greatest atrocity. Their firsthand accounts take viewers into Hitler's Bunker, to the scene of Mussolini's capture and murder, and to the horrific discovery of the Nazi's most ghastly secret.
