Plot Synopsis

Katie Daryl hosts live concerts from Hollywood's legendary venues -- Roxy Theatre in Seasons 1 & 2 and Whisky A Go Go for Seasons 3-6 -- featuring the world's greatest tribute bands. Each episode includes 60 minutes of live music from one cover band. Season 1 bands included: Britain's Finest (tribute band for The Beatles); The Ultimate Stones (The Rolling Stones); The Who Revue (The Who); Atomic Punks (Van Halen); Kenny Metcalf and Elton (Elton John); DSB (Journey); Back in Black (AC/DC); Wild Child (The Doors); Queen Nation (Queen); Damage Inc. (Metallica); Hollywood U2 (U2); and Rumours (Fleetwood Mac). The show's second season, which premiered on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11pm ET/8pm PT, featured: David Brighton's Space Oddity (tribute band for David Bowie); The Police Experience (The Police); The Fab Four (The Beatles); Guns 4 Roses (Guns N Roses); Alice in Cooperland (Alice Cooper); Which One's Pink (Pink Floyd); Blaze of Glory (Bon Jovi); The Iron Maidens (Iron Maiden); Strangelove (Depeche Mode); and Led Zepagain (Led Zeppelin). Moving to Whisky A Go Go on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood after two sold-out seasons at The Roxy, Season 3 premiered on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11pm ET/8pm PT on AXS TV. The 15-episode Season 3 featured these tribute bands: Purple Reign (tribute band for Prince); Bella Donna (Stevie Nicks); Rhymin' N Stealin' (Beastie Boys); The Long Run (The Eagles); The Garth Guy (Garth Brooks); No Duh (No Doubt); True 2 Crue (Motley Crue); The Pettybreakers (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers); Draw The Line (Aerosmith); Wings Band (Paul McCartney); Bruce in the USA (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band); Abbacadabra (ABBA); The Nirvana Experience (Nirvana); Bonfire (AC/DC); and Mr. Speed (KISS). THE WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS returned for a fourth season on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 10pm ET/7pm PT on AXS TV from the world famous Whisky A Go-Go club in Hollywood. The season kicked off with acclaimed Elvis Presley tribute artist Justin Shandor in a special, 90-minute tribute. The rest of the season included: Pyromania (tribute to Def Leppard); Fortunate Son (Creedence Clearwater Revival); Billy Joel 2 Elton John (Billy Joel & Elton John); Dog N Butterfly (Heart); Fan Halen (Van Halen); Ozzmania (Ozzy Osborne & Black Sabbath); Bostyx (Boston & Styx); The Ten Band (Pearl Jam); Southbound and Company (Lynyrd Skynyrd); Blonde Day (Blondie); and Super Diamond (Neil Diamond). THE WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS began its fifth season Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 10pm ET/7pm PT on AXS TV. The season premiere is its 50th episode and features Las Vegas' acclaimed Frank Sinatra tribute artist Gary Anthony. In addition to Anthony, producer/host Katie Daryl has once again booked a power-packed line-up featuring tributes to some of the most iconic bands of all time. Other bands in Season 5 include:Frank Sinatra tribute by Gary Anthony (Las Vegas); Fleetwood Mac tribute by Mirage (Ventura, CA); Stevie Wonder tribute by Natural Wonder (Charlotte, NC); Foreigner tribute by Double Vision (Los Angeles); U2 tribute by Hollywood U2 (Los Angeles); Johnny Cash tribute by Philip Bauer (Oklahoma City, OK); Eagles tribute by On The Border (Charlotte, NC); and Huey Lewis and the News tribute by Super Huey (Sacramento, CA). THE WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS returned for its sixth season on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 10pm ET/7pm PT on AXS TV. WGTB has called the Whisky home for the last four seasons and will pay homage to the iconic venue with tributes to a few of the many acts who started off on that stage. "This season we are truly embracing the Sunset Strip experience by paying tribute to many of the artists who called the Whisky A Go Go home and cemented its place in music history," said Katie Daryl. "Our line-up this season rocks through four decades of hits and those who tune in will be amazed as these incredible songs come to life on THE WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS." The season opens with the Doors (Feb. 17), celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Doors residency as house band at the Whisky; Guns 'N Roses (March 16), celebrating 29 years to the date since Guns 'N Roses' memorable performance at the venue; Van Halen with a special guest tribute to Sammy Hagar (Feb. 24); and Neil Young (March 2). Next, WGTB features music from some of the quintessential 70's groups with tributes to Chicago (March 9), Rush (March 23) and the Bee Gees (March 30), along with tributes to punk rock icon Billy Idol (April 6) and a special episode April 13 honoring the 20th anniversary of Sublime's celebrated eponymous album. The season finishes strong with a special 90-minute episode on April 20 with a tribute to WGTB fan-favorite Pink Floyd, as Which One's Pink? performs the record-breaking album "The Dark Side of the Moon," in its entirety, along with a few of the band's most recognizable hits. THE WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS returned for a 10-concert seventh season on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 on AXS TV, and will honor the music of two legends lost this year with special 90-minute tributes to Prince by Purple Reign: THE Prince Tribute Show for the premiere September 14 and David Bowie September 21. The weekly live concert airs Wednesday nights at 10pm ET/7pm PT from the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, will also feature an epic finale with the show's first-ever tribute to Jimi Hendrix Nov. 16. The 10-concert line-up also includes a tribute to The Beach Boys (Sept. 28) and, just in time for the anticipated Desert Trip Festival, tributes to The Rolling Stones (Oct. 5) and The Who (Oct. 12). Then, THE WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS celebrates a musical milestone with a tribute to Bob Seger (Oct. 19) honoring the 40th anniversary of his 1976 break out album "Night Moves;" followed by Pat Benatar (Oct. 16), 37 years to the day since the release of her beloved 1979 album "Heartbreaker." Finally, a tribute to Journey (Nov. 2), marking the 35th anniversary of the band's popular "Escape" album that debuted their biggest hit "Don't Stop Believing," and Parrotheads rejoice as a tribute to Jimmy Buffet (Nov. 9) takes the stage. "One of my favorite things about THE WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS is it provides a national stage for our talented bands to bring to life this timeless music we can sometimes no longer see and hear live," said Katie Daryl. "After their passing this year, I knew we had to invite our amazing Prince and David Bowie tributes to return to the show to honor those artists and I am excited to finally present a tribute to one of the most innovative guitarists of all time, Jimi Hendrix."

The 10-episode eighth season of WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS premieres Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 10pm ET/7pm PT on AXS TV. The 90-minute season opener features Led Zepagain, who will perform the "Led Zeppelin IV" album in its entirety. Plus, the season closes on May 10 with a 90-minute finale that celebrates the 50th anniversary of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with a full-album performance by The Fab Four. The full schedule for Season 8 includes: Led Zeppelin tribute by Led Zepagain (March 8); Metallica tribute by Damage Inc. (March 15); ZZ Top tribute by Eliminator (March 22); Allman Brothers tribute by Live at The Fillmore (March 29); Electric Light Orchestra tribute by Strange Magic (April 5); Queen tribute by Almost Queen (April 12); Dolly Parton Tribute by Karen as Dolly (April 19); Dave Matthews Band by Warehouse (April 26); Supertramp tribute by Dreamer (May 3); and The Beatles tribute by The Fab Four (May 10).
