Plot Synopsis

THE WORLD'S MOST EXTRAORDINARY HOMES is a one-hour docuseries that follows award-winning architect Piers Taylor and actress/property enthusiast Caroline Quentin, as they travel the world to tour unconventional homes in extreme places ranging from North America, Australasia and Europe. To explore how these dramatic designs function as both works of architecture and as real houses, they stay overnight, eat meals and spend time in the homes. Each 60-minute episode centers on a different type of location -- mountains, forests, coasts, and underground -- where the duo tour these incredible retreats. THE WORLD'S MOST EXTRAORDINARY HOMES had its U.S. premiere on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire four-episode first season. On Friday, September 14, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released four Season 2 episodes of THE WORLD'S MOST EXTRAORDINARY HOMES. In these new episodes, Piers and Caroline head to Portugal, Switzerland, Japan and the United States to tour more one-of-a-kind homes with extraordinary architecture. The duo begin their tour in the USA, as Piers and Caroline end their tour in Florida with a waterfront wonder, a modest pavilion, a modernist showpiece and a high-end home built on stilts.
Netflix released an additional four episodes -- which is alternately called Season 3 and Season 2B -- on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. In this new batch of episodes, Piers and Caroline take a tour of amazing homes around the world in India, Israel, Norway and Spain. The duo begin this new journey in Spain, were they see a farmhouse made of steel, a home with a floating pool, a circular sanctuary and a shared dwelling for three sisters.
