Plot Synopsis

WRECK CHASERS follows "1-Unit," a 31-person team spread among 18 tow trucks who claim wrecks and collect cash in North and West Philadelphia. Philadelphia is the only city in the United States that allows wreck chasing, a multimillion dollar business in which as many as 2,000 trucks prowl the streets of the City of Brotherly Love at any given time, making Philly tow-trucking one of the most competitive and high stakes jobs in America. Patrolling the sometimes dangerous and gritty streets of Philadelphia day and night requires discipline, attitude and teamwork. Working hand-in-hand with police and rescue crews, the wreck chasers encounter high speed chases, witness serious accidents and are in constant competition with rivals. The "1-Unit" team includes: Mickey, one of the owners, who is in charge of a 15-person team divided among eight trucks servicing North Philadelphia; PJ, the other owner, who captains a 16-person crew, 10-vehicle fleet servicing West Philadelphia, averaging 150 tows and pulling in 25-30 wrecks each week; Redz, a wreck chaser, who is the crew's physically imposing, not-to-be-messed-with tough guy who is usually called in when things get ugly; Pam ("Tow Diva"), a blocker, who runs interference by stopping competing tow truck drivers from getting to wrecks; Lil' Man, a wreck-chaser-in-training, who is the newest -- and smallest -- member of the crew; Michelle, a wreck chaser, who is a beautician by day and rides one of the company's largest tow rigs at night, specializing in the $50 tow.
