Plot Synopsis

WWE SMACKDOWN is a weekly two-hour showcase that features WWE Superstars and Divas including Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, Big Show, Kane, Edge, Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger, Dashing Cody Rhodes, Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool and Layla. Named from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's popular catchphrase, "Lay the Smackdown," this series has been broadcast from 170 different venues, in 148 cities and towns, in seven different countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Iraq, Japan, Italy and Mexico. On Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 8pm ET/PT on Syfy, WWE SMACKDOWN moved to its new timeslot -- Thursdays at 8pm -- after airing on Fridays since September 9, 2005 on UPN (2005-2006), The CW (2006-2008), MyNetworkTV (2008-2010) and Syfy (2010-2015).

WWE SMACKDOWN moved to USA Network for its sixteenth season, starting on January 6, 2016, continuing to air in its regular timeslot: Thursdays at 8pm ET/PT. The season opener features two title matches: Charlotte defends the Divas title and Dean Ambrose defends the Intercontinental title.
