Plot Synopsis
YELLOWSTONE is a one-hour scripted series that centers on John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, which is under constant attack by those it borders -- land developers, an Indian reservation, and America's first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny -- where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world's largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.
Season 2 of YELLOWSTONE premiered on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT on Paramount Network, with a simulcast on CMT. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect, the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders: an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America's first national park. In the season opener, "A Thundering," Kayce settles into his new role at the Ranch, a damaging article threatens to expose John, and Rainwater pitches his new plan to the tribal council. Season 2 of YELLOWSTONE made its network linear television debut on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS.
YELLOWSTONE returned for its third season on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on Paramount Network, with a simulcast on TV Land. Season 3 adds newcomer Josh Holloway as Roarke Morris, a hedge fund manager with ambitious plans in Montana concerning the Dutton family. Additional newcomers this season include Eden Brolin, Hassie Harrison and Jennifer Landon. In the season opener, "You're the Indian Now," John reshuffles the political decks in the wake of the Beck Brothers. Beth finds a trespasser on the ranch and learns that he may have big ambitions for the surrounding land, and John helps Tate deal with his nightmares. Season 3 of YELLOWSTONE made its network linear television debut with three consecutive episodes on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 8-11pm ET/PT on CBS.
Season 4 of YELLOWSTONE premiered on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 8-10:20pm ET/PT on Paramount, with a simulcast on TV Land, CMT, and Pop. Jacki Weaver, Piper Perabo and Kathryn Kelly join the cast, respectively guest starring as: Caroline Warner, CEO of Market Equities; Summer Higgins, an outside protestor from Portland who is against the state funded police force; and Emily, a vet tech who soon strikes up a relationship with the new cowboy. In the two-episode season opener, the coordinated attack on the Duttons continues as everyone searches for answers on who is responsible; meanwhile, Rip delivers on a promise.
The fifth season of YELLOWSTONE premiered with two episodes on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 8-10:30pm ET/PT on Paramount, with a simulcast on MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, TV Land, Pop, and CMT. John Dutton is sworn in as Governor of Montana; as John settles into the powers of his new office, he makes bold moves to protect the Yellowstone from his opponents; the bunkhouse and the Duttons enjoy the Governor's ball. After a 22-month break, YELLOWSTONE returned with new episodes on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 8pm ET/PT on Paramount, CMT, Comedy Central, TV Land, MTV, MTV2, Logo, and Pop and then later in the evening with a special airing at 10pm ET/9:30pm PT on CBS. The final six episodes of the season continue to chronicle the Dutton family, who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. The mid-season premiere, "Desire Is All You Need," takes place after an event rattles the state of Montana, where nothing will ever be the same.
