Plot Synopsis

Set in the Midwestern town of Genoa City, WI, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS that revolves around three families. The wealthy upper-class Brooks and the poor Fosters were the core families during Y&R's first decade, with their differences in wealth and social class were common themes. Originally premiering as a half-hour drama, episodes were extended to an hour in 1980, allowing the program to introduce the Abbott family, which is now one of the core families in Genoa City.

On Monday, March 27, 2023 at 8pm ET/PT, CBS premiered "The Young and Restless 50th Celebration," a one-hour Y&R/ET special. Hosted by ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT's Nischelle Turner from THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS set, the program includes footage and interviews with THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS cast members from the past 50 years, current exclusive interviews with fan-favorite cast members and never-before-seen moments from the ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT vault. The special also dives deep into the legacy of Y&R storylines over the years, including the epic romances, biggest feuds and rivalries, iconic weddings, famous alumni and groundbreaking moments in pop culture. Plus, viewers get a behind-the-scenes studio tour, including a look at the massive wardrobe collection and special remembrances to beloved cast members Jeanne Cooper and Kristoff St. John.
