Plot Synopsis
In 1853 James Mink, a wealthy black Canadian businessman, unwittingly sells his well-educated 17-year-old daughter into slavery. Determined to rescue her, he and his Irish-born wife travel to the Virginia plantation where their daughter is in servitude, and assume uncomfortable roles: he as a slave and his wife as his owner. Together with the help of the underground railroad, they plan and execute a daring escape, eventually freeing their beloved daughter.
