Plot Synopsis
In October of 1986, the courageous actions of a Russian naval Captain avoids a nuclear catastrophe in the wake of a collision between his Soviet K-219 nuclear submarine and an American sub off the East coast of the US. Through daring maneuvers the damaged Soviet ship is able to extinguish a raging fire in the missile bay and shut down its nuclear reactors before being abandoned and sinking.
