Plot Synopsis
Based on the the book "Big Beat Heat" by John A. Jackson. In 1957, Cleveland radio deejay begins playing "Rock & Roll" on his show and becomes and instant celebrity; introducing R&B acts around the country. In New York he becomes the No. 1 radio personality but his career is ruined by the payola scandal; where he took money from record companies to play only their music. With his family life in shambles and in deep debt, he dies in 1965 at the age of 43.
