Plot Synopsis

Pro baseball player Ben is devastated to find his beloved dog, Jake, has slipped out of the house thanks to a careless roommate. Jake ends up at the local shelter where, newly arrived in town, single mom Megan and daughter Caitlin are at the shelter to find adopt a pet. Caitlin is immediately drawn to Jake, the biggest, happiest, sloppiest dog in the pound. Hesitant, Megan worries about such an energetic dog, but she relents and takes the dog home. Ben is relieved to hear the shelter has taken Jake in, but through a mix-up, Megan and Caitlin leave with the dog just as Ben is going in to claim him. He soon appears on their doorstep claiming the dog is rightfully his. They agree to share custody of Jake but clash over how to raise the unruly pup. While working out their differences, they begin to fall for each other and soon discover it isn't just puppy love.
