Plot Synopsis

Just before Christmas, nurse Kate Bryant is out jogging when a small earthquake causes a boulder to tumble down a hill. A young man wearing a Santa Claus suit pushes her out of the way just in time as he is knocked unconscious. When he comes to, he claims his name is Nick Claus and that Santa appointed him to take over five years ago to help him with his deliveries. Feeling responsible for his head injury, Kate takes him to the hospital to have him checked out. He has no identification and doesn't seem to know where he lives, so Kate talks the hospital administrator into letting him stay until they can find a relative. Everyone in the hospital can't help but feel the warmth of his Christmas spirit. With the help of some of the psychiatric patients, he sneaks into the storage closet and decorates the entire hospital for the holiday. Kate and Nick begin spending a lot of time together and she soon starts to have feelings for him. She finds a hand-carved toy in his red bag and a name, Anderson Toymakers, engraved inside. Locating the toy shop, hidden away in the mountains, Kate meets Ben, Nick's brother. She finds out that Nick was married but his wife and baby were killed in a car accident five years earlier just before Christmas. Kate goes back to the hospital to pick up Nick and take him home. Once back in the toy shop, he begins to regain his memory and what he has lost. But he also remembers the new joy he's found in being with Kate and tells her he wants to spend Christmas, and every other holiday, with her forever.
