Plot Synopsis

In 1943,African-American Army Air Corps recruits face grueling training, bigoted officers and the constant challenges of combat flying. Some of the men wash out but the remaining airmen fight the impulse to give up in the face of injustice and adversity. They eventually earn their wings with the ''Fighting 99th'', the legendary, highly decorated squadron of the 332nd Fighter Group but must continually prove their worth to a racist war department.
