Plot Synopsis

Each year since 2009, CBS has broadcast a two-hour concert special that benefits ACM Lifting Lives, the charitable arm of the Academy of Country Music (ACM) dedicated to improving lives through the power of music by providing grants to music therapy and music education programs. The concert is taped at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas the day following the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, and CBS broadcasts the event at a later date -- usually two to four weeks later. The first special, GEORGE STRAIT: ACM ARTIST OF THE DECADE ALL-STAR CONCERT, paid tribute to George Strait (aka The King of Country) with performances by Brooks & Dunn, Jamie Foxx, Jack Ingram, Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Montgomery Gentry, John Rich, LeAnn Rimes, Blake Shelton, Lee Ann Womack, Faith Hill, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban. The following year, 2010, this series of specials first took the ACM PRESENTS monicker as part of its title, as ACM PRESENTS: BROOKS & DUNN -- THE LAST RODEO featured Brooks and Dunn receiving the Academy's Milestone Award in recognition of their 20-year career. In 2011, ACM PRESENTS: GIRLS' NIGHT OUT -- SUPERSTAR WOMEN OF COUNTRY honored country's best female performers, including The Judds, Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Reba and Carrie Underwood. The 2012 event, ACM PRESENTS: LIONEL RICHIE AND FRIENDS -- IN CONCERT, featured artists performing Richie's greatest hits, including duets between Richie and Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Jennifer Nettles, Kenny Rogers, Darius Rucker, and Rascal Flatts. Then, in 2013, ACM PRESENTS: TIM MCGRAW'S SUPERSTAR SUMMER NIGHT featured Tim McGraw, with performances by Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Pitbull, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift and Ne-Yo. The two-hour 2015 event, ACM PRESENTS: AN ALL-STAR SALUTE TO THE TROOPS, featured a Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton duet and performances by Eli Young Band, Rascal Flatts, Dierks Bentley, Lee Brice, Luke Bryan, Merle Haggard, Hunter Hayes, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Kellie Pickler, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum and The Band Perry.

On Friday, May 15, 2015 from 9-11pm ET/PT, CBS broadcast ACM PRESENTS: SUPERSTAR DUETS, which was held at the 3rd Annual ACM Party for a Cause Festival at Globe Life Park in Arlington, TX one month earlier on April 17 & 18. This two-hour special features highlights from a lineup that included: Alabama and Eli Young Band; Brooks & Dunn and Reba; Darius Rucker and Sara Evans; Dierks Bentley, Kip Moore & Ashley Monroe; Dwight Yoakam and Sam Hunt; Luke Bryan and Ronnie Milsap, along with a special performance by Brantley Gilbert; Alan Jackson and Cole Swindell; Clint Black and Joe Nichols; Eric Church and Marty Stuart; Florida Georgia Line and David Lee Murphy; Hunter Hayes and Brett Eldredge; Keith Urban and John Anderson; Lady Antebellum and Brandy Clark; Miranda Lambert and Patty Loveless; and The Band Perry and Deana Carter, along with special performances by Kenny Chesney and Jake Owen.
