Plot Synopsis
With first hand testimony from survivors and witnesses, in-depth interviews with investigators and high end dramatic reconstruction AIR CRASH CONFIDENTIAL is a one-hour documentary series that examines the most notorious disasters in aviation history that were seen in movies. Each 60-minute episode examines a different real-life crash seen in a movie, including WE ARE MARSHALL, AIRPORT, SULLY, ALIVE, FLIGHT and PUSHING TIN. AIR CRASH CONFIDENTIAL had its U.S. premiere on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 8-10pm ET/5-7pm PT, as ReelzChannel debuted back-to-back episodes:
"Instrument Confusion" (8pm ET/5pm PT): Denzel Washington's 2012 movie FLIGHT follows commuter airline pilot Whip Whitaker whose plane starts to fly erratically and with the instrumentation not making any sense Whip is forced to crash land the plane. Too strange to be true? This episode investigates the real life crashes like the one seen in FLIGHT to highlight the stories of other pilots who lost control of their planes.
"Disastrous Descents" (9pm ET/6pm PT): Landing is the most critical part of any flight. In the movie WE ARE MARSHALL, Matthew McConaughey's character survives the events of November 1970 when his football teammates and coaches at Marshall University die on the final approach to their hometown airport. In this episode we relive the flight's final moments and explain how this and other flights have been undone on their final approach to home.
