Plot Synopsis

Seth MacFarlane's half-hour animated comedy series revolves around a CIA agent whose main objective in life is national security. With his doting wife, Francine, at his side, Stan Smith -- CIA agent, anti-terror operative, and upstanding citizen -- runs a household that includes his ultra-liberal daughter, Hayley; his dweeb son, Steve; a sarcastic alien named Roger; and a lascivious German goldfish, Klaus. For the 2012-2013 season, AMERICAN DAD features the guest voice of Nathan Fillion, Will Forte, Rupert Grint, Jon Hamm, Alison Brie, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Charlie Day. Plus, Danny Glover voices a Christmas demon in the eighth season's holiday episode. On Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 9:30pm ET/PT, Fox presented the 150th episode of AMERICAN DAD, with Jeff having to prove his love for Hayley to Emperor Zing in order to find his way home from the spaceship that abducted him. Fox aired the Season 10 premiere of AMERICAN DAD on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 9:30pm ET/PT, as Steve and Snot ended up raising two fast-growing babies after trying to use a cloning machine to create dates for prom night. This show's 2013-2014 season features these guest voices: Becki Newton, Cloris Leachman, Ellie Kemper, Alison Brie, Jane Krakowski, John Cho, Olivia Wilde, T.J. Miller, Zooey Deschanel, Terry Crews and Stanley Tucci. On Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 9-10pm ET/PT, Fox aired a one-hour special premiere of AMERICAN DAD. In the first episode, "Roger Passes the Bar," Roger is forced to sell his beloved attic bar to a restaurant chain after suffering a heart attack, and a sexy new next-door neighbor (guest voice Jane Krakowski) promises to take Steve and his friends' virginity in return for housework. Then, in the night's second episode, "A Boy Named Michael," Roger moves in with Greg and Terry.

AMERICAN DAD moved to TBS for its new season premiere one month later. On Monday, October 20, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT, TBS debuted the season premiere of AMERICAN DAD, immediately following a five-hour marathon (4-9pm) of encore episodes. Note that the TBS website called this program the Season 12 premiere (but now calls it the Season 10 premiere in its online episode guide), while other sources called it the Season 11 premiere (TBS press release), a continuation of the eleventh season (FOX press release), or a continuation of the tenth season (Amazon on Demand), which started in September on Fox. In this new episode, "Blonde Ambition," Hayley decides that she might get more attention if she becomes a blonde when her efforts to save the planet prove hopeless. Meanwhile, Stan and Steve go on a mission to find a new home for the Smiths.

On Monday, November 7, 2016 at 8:30pm ET/PT, TBS premiered the twelfth season of AMERICAN DAD. In the season opener, "Father's Daze," Stan keeps reliving the same Father's Day in a parody of the movie GROUNDHOG DAY. After a four-month break, AMERICAN DAD returned with new Season 12 episodes on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on TBS. In the spring premiere, "Whole Slotta Love," Francine becomes less attracted to Stan when he gets involved with slot car racing. Roger becomes a stewardess to perform comedy routines on the plane but is upset when another stewardess is funnier than him.

On Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT, TBS premiered the 22-episode thirteenth season of AMERICAN DAD, opening with the "Paranoid Frandroid" episode.

On Monday, April 15, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT, TBS premiered the 14th season of AMERICAN DAD. In the season opener, "Fantasy Baseball," Steve tries to get into baseball to connect with Stan. Roger creates real life drama for Francine after her favorite soap opera is cancelled.

TBS premiered the 15th season of AMERICAN DAD on Monday, April 13, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "100 Years a Solid Fool," Stan is confronted by his hidden past while running an errand in Little Columbia. In celebration of AMERICAN DAD's 15th anniversary, TBS will air a curated selection of episodes focusing on different characters each day, handpicked by the series' producers, Tuesday - Friday from 4-6pm ET/PT, April 14-17 and April 21-24. Following that, the official AMERICAN DAD 15th anniversary marathon featuring the series co-creator's top 15 favorite episodes will take place on Monday, April 27 from 2:30-10pm ET/PT. On Monday, September 14 the series airs its milestone 300th episode. On Monday, September 14, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT, TBS premiered "300," the 300th episode of AMERICAN DAD, which becomes the 25th scripted primetime series in the history of television to reach 300 episodes. Roger's past comes back to haunt him.

Season 16 of AMERICAN DAD debuted on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on TBS, with the season opener, "Who Smarted?"

AMERICAN DAD returned for its 17th season on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT on TBS, with the season opener, "Langley Dollar Listings." After a six-month break, AMERICAN DAD returned with new episodes on Monday, September 5, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT on TBS. In the mid-season premiere, "The Curious Case of the Old Hole," Wheels and the Legman try to hunt down the perpetrators who destroyed Steve's secret swimming hole; meanwhile, Klaus helps an aging Principal Lewis reclaim his confidence.

On Monday, March 27, 2023 at 10pm ET/PT, TBS premiered the 18th season of AMERICAN DAD. In the season opener, ""Fellow Traveler," a lunar misstep sends Roger on an unexpected detour to New Mexico. Guest voices for the Season 18 include: Pete Davidson, Anjelica Houston, Jason Alexander, Jaleel White, Chris Sullivan, Ann Dowd, Amy Sedaris, Alan Tudyk, Alyson Hannigan, and Simon Helberg. After a three-month break, AMERICAN DAD returned with new episodes on Monday, September 4, 2023 at 10pm ET/PT on TBS. In the mid-season premiere, "Frantastic Voyage," when Stan goes too far to keep his work friend away from Francine, she is forced to save her new little friend.

Season 19 of AMERICAN DAD debuted on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 10pm ET/PT on TBS. TBS on Monday, October 28 at 10PM ET/PT. This season, the Smiths are overjoyed when the Langley Falls boardwalk reopens; the family have their dreams of climbing Mount Everest turn into a nightmare; Roger is struck with a mysterious illness; Klaus contends with an imposter and much more. Guest stars include: Kevin Bacon, Charles Barkley, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, Gabriel Iglesias, Michael Imperioli, Leslie Jones, Neal McDonough, Joel McHale and Kyra Sedgwick join the voices of the cast comprised of Seth MacFarlane, Wendy Schaal, Scott Grimes, Rachael MacFarlane, Jeff Fischer, Dee Bradley Baker, and Patrick Stewart.

In the season opener, "The Grocery Store Bank," Stan, Francine and Roger concoct the perfect plan to rob a bank but agree never to do it.
