Plot Synopsis

THE AMERICAN GAME is an 11-episode documentary series that focuses on college football and the impact it has had on the American landscape, while celebrating the sport's 150-year anniversary. The debut episode, "The Culture," examines the phenomenon that has become College Football Saturday. With the game embodying a singular blend of pride, loyalty and tradition, you have to understand how much everything around it matters too -- from the team colors to the uniforms to the bands, mascots, nicknames and more. Subsequent one-hour episodes feature themes, such as: The Evolution of the Game; Integration; Bowls, Polls and Picking a Champion; The Heisman Trophy; The College-Pro Relationship; and more.
