Plot Synopsis

Created and written by Fanny Robert and Maxime Berthemy, along with writers Mehdi Ouahab (Cherif) and Sophie Lebarbier, ANTHRACITE is a six-episode thriller that follows a web sleuth, Ida, whose reporter father goes missing, leading her to investigate a small mountain town haunted by a sect, secrecy and death. In 1994, the mass suicide of a cult based in a small village in the Alps hits the headlines. Thirty years later, the murder of a woman who was killed following the rituals of this strange community wreaks havoc on the delicate balance restored by the residents. The perfect scapegoat, Jaro Gatsi, a young offender who has arrived in the mountains to get his life back on track, soon finds himself accused of the murder. Determined to prove his innocence, he receives some unexpected help from Ida, an eccentric and hyperconnected geek who is looking for her missing father. They soon realize that their involvement in this case owes nothing to chance, and that the answers they are looking for are rooted in the secrets of their own past. All six episodes of ANTHRACITE dropped on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 on Netflix.
