Plot Synopsis

Created, written, and executive produced by showrunner Craig Rosenberg, BASED ON A TRUE STORY is an eight-episode dark comedic thriller about pregnant realtor Ava, her husband (and former tennis star) Nathan, and handyman Matt, who seize a unique opportunity to capitalize on America's obsession with true crime. Ava and Nate are trying to live the American Dream, but they're just likely living beyond their means. Ava, who is seven months pregnant and in a passionless marriage, turns to true-crime podcasts for her escape. When an unheralded serial killer called "The Westside Ripper" murders a bartender at a local restaurant, fate brings the trio together. They decide to launch their own podcast in pursuit of fortune and fame...unless Matt kills his co-hosts first. All eight episodes of BASED ON A TRUE STORY dropped on Thursday, June 8, 2023 on Peacock.
