Plot Synopsis

As told by the people who lived through it, BETRAYING THE BADGE is a docuseries that explores some of the most explosive police corruption cases in the U.S. Personal, character-driven stories of cops who went from upholding the law to breaking it. In the series opener, "Rich Rivera: The Inside Man," a young, idealistic rookie for the West New York, N.J., Police Department discovers a pattern of pervasive criminal behavior within his department and decides to go under cover for the FBI.

BETRAYING THE BADGE returned for its second season on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on VICE. In the season opener, "Diamonds and Dirty Cops," the FBI investigates a jewelry-theft ring with ties to the Chicago mob, and they soon find that the mastermind behind the operation is a decorated former Chicago police chief.
