Plot Synopsis
The Reagans are a multi-generational family dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Frank is the NYC Chief of Police who runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family, even when dealing with the politics that plagued his unapologetically bold father, Henry, during his stint as Chief. Frank's eldest son Danny is a family man married to Linda, a seasoned detective with Jackie as his partner, and an Iraqi War vet who occasionally uses dubious tactics to solve cases. Erin is a newly single parent to daughter Nicky and a NYC Assistant D.A., who also serves as the legal compass for her siblings and father. Jamie is the youngest Reagan, fresh out of Harvard Law and the family's golden boy, but he gives up a lucrative future in law to be a cop who is part of a clandestine police investigation even his father knows nothing about. Season 2 ended with Frank racing to stop a biological weapon attack on New York City, while keeping it a secret from his family during their most sentimental holiday, Mother's Day. Plus, a long-standing conflict between Danny and Jamie came to a head. At the start of Season 3, Danny's life changed as a dangerous criminal from his past came back to seek revenge and kidnap Jackie, and, later, his wife Linda went back to work, causing upheaval at home. Plus, Erin's ex-husband, attorney Jack Boyle, resurfaced in her life. As Season 3 closed, the Reagans rallied together to take down the leader of the gang responsible for the murder of someone close to them, while Frank was left reeling from a second loss. Season 4 opened with Erin dropping the charges against a suspect and releasing him, which caused tension in the Reagan household because the person was suspected of killing a police officer during an armed robbery. Meanwhile, Frank made it the NYPD's mission to bring the killer to justice.
