Plot Synopsis

Renowned adventurer Richard Wiese, who was the youngest president in Explorers Club history, travels the globe to uncover amazing facts about nature and man-made treasures. Whether he climbs Mount Kilimanjaro, explores the base of an active volcano, travels down the Nile or investigates the Mayan Manatee in Belize, Wiese presents the material in an appropriate fashion for 13- to 16-year-old teens while still making it educational for the whole family. This series is part of Litton Entertainment's programming block, "Litton's Weekend Adventure," which includes six, half-hour, hi-def educational and informational series on Saturday mornings (check local listings) on ABC affiliates across the United States. BORN TO EXPLORE returned for its third season on Saturday, October 5, 2013, as Richard Wiese explored Scotland in the season opener, competing in that country's Highland Games.

Season 4 premiered the weekend of Saturday, October 4, 2013 on ABC, as Richard Wiese climbs Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, taking friends and family on a seven-day climb to 19,340 feet. This trip marks Richard's fourteenth ascent, but he's encountering the worst weather he's ever faced on the mountain, as he revisits a weather station he helped establish eight years earlier.
