Plot Synopsis

LA BREA begins when a massive sinkhole opens in the middle of Los Angeles, pulling hundreds of people and buildings into its depths. Those who fell in find themselves in a mysterious and dangerous primeval land, where they have no choice but to band together to survive. Meanwhile, the rest of the world desperately seeks to understand what happened. In the search for answers, one family torn apart by this disaster will have to unlock the secrets of this inexplicable event to find a way back to each other. LA BREA premiered on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC.

Season 2 of LA BREA premieres on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. In the new season, the Harris family remains separated as Eve is reeling from her son, Josh, having mistakenly gone through a portal to 1988. What she doesn't know yet is that her estranged husband, Gavin, and their daughter, Izzy, have landed in prehistoric Seattle and now must brave the elements and animals to make their way to L.A. In the season opener, "The Next Day," Eve, desperate to reunite with her son, follows a lead that brings her face-to-face with a ruthless prehistoric group. Gavin, Izzy and Ella question whether they're fit to survive in 10,000 BC. Josh and Riley wake up in an unfamiliar time. After a 2.5-month break, LA BREA returned with back-to-back new episodes on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 9-11pm ET/PT on NBC. In the night's first episode, "Stampede" (9pm), the Harrises return to 10,000 BC, determined to upload a virus that will stop all sinkholes, despite knowing that this will mean they will never get home again. An unlikely leader rallies the Clearing to face an oncoming prehistoric threat. Then, in "Murder in the Clearing" (10pm), when a Survivor is murdered, Lucas and Sam lead a contentious investigation to find the killer. Gavin embarks on a mission to save Eve from the fateful vision he's had of her death. Eve finds herself closer than ever to seeing it come true.

The six-episode third and final season of LA BREA debuts on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on NBC. In the season opener, "Sierra," after the Clearing's destroyed in a dinosaur attack, the Survivors must find a new home. Gavin discovers a clue about where Eve has been taken, but tracking the lead down results in even more tragic consequences.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT, NBC premiered "The Road Home (Part 2)," the series finale of LA BREA. Gavin leads the survivors in trying to find Eve, Josh and Riley. Will he be able to finally reunite his family and still find a way back to the lives they once knew?
