Plot Synopsis

CHASING MUMMIES shows all the unexpected details, all the catastrophes, all the passion and all the anguish that results in a trove of new and astonishing ancient Egyptian finds as legendary archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass pursues one of the most challenging jobs in the world: discovering new archaeological finds while managing 250 digs throughout Egypt. And managing these digs proves more difficult and exciting than you'd ever expect. At the Step Pyramid, a visitor and cameraman get stuck and locked inside the bowels of the oldest pyramid in Egypt. At the Five Chambers above the Grand Gallery of the Great Pyramid, Zahi, his fellows and the program's executive producer have a near-death experience and are left gasping for air. At a dig site in Saqqara, Zahi discovers a beautiful anthropoid sarcophagus from the 26th Dynasty.
