Plot Synopsis
Hosted by Scott Conant, each one-hour episode of CHOPPED SWEETS features four sugar-savvy chefs who set foot in the Chopped Sweets Kitchen, where they compete in three elimination rounds while vying for the $10,000 prize and the title of Chopped Sweets Champion. For each basket, the chefs are challenged to make small bites from a basket of sweets, trying to impress a rotating panel of culinary experts who determine which chef will be chopped.
On Monday, December 30, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, Food Network debuted a sneak-peek episode, "Winter Celebration," with judges Waylynn Lucas and Thiago Silva. The chefs' confidence may take a hit when they open the first basket (a salty round) and find a startling surprise. Stressful setbacks in the second round (a sour theme) and goody, goody gumdrops in the final basket all lead up to one chef being named the first-ever Chopped Sweets Champion. Chefs included: Colleen Grapes (pastry chef/instructor); Jenn Davis (food stylist & blogger); Mike Winkelman (pastry chef in Austin); and Kyleen Atonson (Coda di Volpe pastry chef)
One month later, CHOPPED SWEETS had its official series premiere on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 10pm on Food Network. In the premiere episode, "Boozy Baskets," the chefs find adult beverages in every basket as they must figure out a way to balance booze with pastry perfection. A special beer and a frozen treat are part of the puzzle in the first round, while a potent pop and a festive frosting meet in the second basket. In the third and final basket, will the larger than life cocktail win over the judges who are thirsting for truly fantastical desserts? Other episode themes feature the chefs taking on carnival ingredients as they set out to make whimsical desserts and creating miniature sweet concoctions that prove to be delectable little works of art. And see what happens when the chefs learn they will have to make breakfast-themed desserts each round with the baskets full of reminders of the most important meal of the day, including a coffee drink, a cleverly designed candy and waffle dough.
CHOPPED SWEETS returned for its second season on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on Food Network. In the season opener, "Magical Mashups," two desserts are better than one as the competitors are challenged to make mashup masterpieces. The chefs discover a nutty version of a doughnut in the round one basket. A hyped-up hybrid meat makes an appearance in round two, and one competitor gets emotional at kind words from the judges. In the final round, the remaining chefs face a twist on tacos.

For its third season, CHOPPED SWEETS moved to discovery+, as the streaming service released the first six episodes of the new season on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. In the season opener, "Bejeweled and Bedazzled," the chefs set out to make sweet dishes that are almost too pretty to eat. Fancy booze gets the competitors in a sparkly spirit in Round 2, and a gorgeous cake and nostalgic candy are part of the puzzle for the finalists.
