Plot Synopsis

Based on true events, CRIME DIARIES: THE CANDIDATE is a drama series that centers on the 1994 assassination of Mexican presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio, which sends his dying widow, Diana Laura Riojas, racing to uncover who did it. Soon after, three suspects are arrested in Tijuana, but Cmdr. Benitez becomes even more suspicious when the investigation is immediately taken out of his hands. At Colosio's funeral, Diana Laura sees suspects at every turn. Noticing Mario Aburto's resemblance to a new murder victim, Benitez forms a theory. A confession from her driver spurs Diana Laura to visit Gen. Garces. Miguel Montes forms his own theory. Benitez receives a key piece of evidence. On Friday, March 22, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released all eight episodes of the series.
