Plot Synopsis
Featuring first-person interviews and behind-the-scenes information of some of the internet's most viral crime clips, CRIMES GONE VIRAL is a half-hour docuseries that explores the riveting stories behind shocking crimes caught on camera that gain viral fame on the internet. From business security cameras to home surveillance systems and cell phone cameras, someone is almost always watching. Gripping clips of kidnappings, break-ins, wild car chases, violent road rage incidents and other crimes rack up millions of views. CRIMES GONE VIRAL premiered on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 9-10pm ET/PT, as Investigation Discovery debuted back-to-back new episodes. In the series opener, "Do No Harm" (9pm), a man is driving home when he sees a woman being dragged down the street against her will; another man is visiting his girlfriend at work on Valentine's Day when a robber leaps onto the counter. Both men take heroic action, ensuring no harm is done. Then, in the second episode, "Run with It" (9:30pm), at an aquarium, thieves snatch a shark from an open tank and make a break for it, with employees hot on their heels. And then, two inmates make a clever escape by hiding in garbage cans. They're all on the run and the hunt is on to find them.
CRIMES GONE VIRAL returned for its second season on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as Investigation Discovery premiered back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener, "Danger on the Street" (10pm), it's a woman's worst nightmare -- a stranger followers her as she walks home. Terrified, she turns on her cell phone to record him as she tries to get away. And then, a vicious, unprovoked attack on a child dancing in the street prompts outrage. In the second episdoe, "Customers Gone Wild" (10:30pm), They are shocking examples of anger out of control. A rideshare customer aggressively attacks her own driver and then, another agitated patron gets violent at a fast-food restaurant, putting other people's lives in danger. After a 2.5-month break, CRIMES GONE VIRAL returned with new episodes on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 9-10pm on Investigation Discovery with back-to-back new episodes.
Season 3 of CRIMES GONE VIRAL premiered with back-to-back episodes from 10-11pm ET/PT on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 on Investigation Discovery. This series continues to take viewers inside the most shocking crimes that went viral. In the season opener, "Risky Moves" (10pm), a defiant victim refuses to give up even when a thief runs him over. An unarmed security guard saves the day when a gunman storms in, brave homeowners tackle flames after an unprovoked car arson, and a crossing guard risks her own life to save a child. Then, in the second episode, "No Escape" (10:30pm), a quick-thinking employee outsmarts armed thieves, a mother jumps into action when her son is snatched off the street, someone attacks a woman in her own driveway, and a burglar literally gets stuck, with comedic results.

A new season of CRIMES GONE VIRAL debuted on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 on Investigation Discovery with back-to-back episodes from 9-10pm ET/PT. This series continues to take viewers inside violent altercations that went viral. The season's first two episodes include:
"Mama Bears Don't Play" (9pm): A good Samaritan defends a stranger, an elderly woman does the unexpected, a mail carrier fights for his life, and a frightening mom is caught on camera in a precarious situation.
"Hazards on the Clock" (9:30pm): Criminals target fast-food restaurants; a drive-through employee takes things too far; a disgruntled customer tries to burn down a bodega; a judge and a defendant face off.
