Plot Synopsis

Coffee magnate and adventurer Todd Carmichael traverses the globe on the hunt for rare strains of coffee beans in some of the most fascinating, dangerous and unseen places in the world. Carmichael's premium coffee company, La Colombe Torrefaction, is based in Philadelphia and supplies top coffee roasts to the best restaurants and gourmet outlets in America. He also developed a coffee blend with Leonardo DiCaprio, Lyon, of which 100 percent of the profits go to the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, funding wildlife protection, forest preservation, clean-water projects, disaster relief and climate-change research around the globe. Since Carmichael focuses on the rarest coffee beans, his exclusive blends are sought after by many of the world's top chefs. All that means his livelihood depends on the success of finding the perfect hidden coffee bean -- no matter where he has to travel, including: Haiti, where he searches for leads in a local market and then treks through the mountains to buy the best beans; Bolivia, where he find precious coffee beans and reluctantly gets on a zip line to soar above the Bolivian forest; Madagascar, where he talks to locals in the coffee bean bushes, buys directly from the growers, and gets a taste of Madagascar's cuisine when he eats a bat wing; and other locations, like Borneo.

DANGEROUS GROUNDS returned for its second season on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on Travel Channel, as Todd traveled to Mexico, where he searched for legendary coffee when he was on the verge of losing an important deal with a celebrity chef. When his contact ended up murdered, Todd had to adapt to get home alive and save the deal. In subsequent Season 2 episodes, Todd visited Nepal, Brazil, Thailand, and many more countries in search of the world's finest coffee.
