Plot Synopsis

DEAD OF NIGHT is a one-hour docuseries that features nail-biting, true stories of victims working the graveyard shift who are thrust into real life nightmares. A killer lies in wait to strike the most vulnerable, those alone in the dark. In the series opener, "The Graveyard Shift," a convenience store clerk working the graveyard shift is on edge after a string of grisly murders are committed within blocks of her store. Soon, her worst nightmare becomes reality when she comes face to face with a twisted and deranged serial killer. Then, in the next episode, "The Darkest Hour," Fred Matting is brutally murdered in his own driveway after finishing a midnight shift at a local factory. His once peaceful neighborhood morphs into a living hell as local residents and authorities fear a vicious killer lies in wait to strike again. On March 16, 2018 -- a little more than a month before the official series premiere -- Investigation Discovery released a full episode as an online sneak peek. In this special preview, "Back from the Dead," in Baltimore, Maryland, a calculating predator lies in wait, stalking innocent young women and striking when they are most vulnerable...alone at night. But a surprise is in store when one of the victims turns out to be the killer's own worst enemy.

Season 2 of DEAD OF NIGHT premiered on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Nothing to Hide," Halloween night ends with a young woman's sudden disappearance in Bend, OR. Suspicion of foul play runs deep, but her whereabouts remain a mystery. Over time, secrets begin to emerge and lead investigators to the least likely of suspects.

On Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered the Season 2 finale of DEAD OF NIGHT. In the season ender, "Alibi Lullaby," police are puzzled when a gruesome murder shakes their small town. A cryptic message is left behind at the scene, but the identity of the killer remains a mystery. Promises are broken and old secrets emerge, breathing new life into the investigation.
