Plot Synopsis

Seven camp counselors plan for the best summer of their lives, but the evil lurking at Camp Stillwater has other plans in store for them at this seemingly idyllic Midwestern summer camp. Set in the late 1980s, Stillwater's dark, ancient mythology awakens, and what was supposed to be a summer of fun soon turns into one of unforgettable scares and evil at every turn. DEAD OF SUMMER begins with Camp Stillwater reopening after being closed down for years. Deb, the new owner, has thrown her heart, soul and life savings into renovating the camp she loved as a child. Deb exudes authority while simultaneously presenting a warm and welcoming vibe -- but behind closed doors, she seems to value her control over the camp for a much darker reason. She isn't the only one excited to return, as six former campers -- Alex, Jessie, Cricket, Joel, Blair and Blotter -- join her as counselors hoping to experience the freedom that camp brings now that they are older. Not part of the old crew, Amy is not just new to Camp Stillwater, but to camp in general. Amy is not unfamiliar with being the new girl in social situations and the pitfalls that come with it, so she tries hard to fit in with the already bonded counselors. As the others reminisce about their past summers at camp, Amy is the first to discover clues that something disturbing is going on at Camp Clearwater. While Amy tries her best to fit in with the already tight group, mysterious loner Drew is content to be left alone and has no interest in bonding with the rest of the group. As everyone settles in and prepares for the campers' arrival, Amy is the first to get a feeling that something is not right with this idyllic summer camp. Soon after, Joel, an aspiring filmmaker, begins to buy into the idea that something weird is happening. Plus, Garrett, the young deputy, has ties to Camp Clearwater and grows immediately suspicious when events at the camp don't add up.

On Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, Freeform premiered the season finale of DEAD OF SUMMER. In the season ender, "She Talks to Angels," summer comes to a close, and the centuries-old battle between good and evil at Lake Stillwater is settled once and for all.
