Plot Synopsis

Former FBI profiler Candice DeLong works to find common behavioral links between some of the world's worst perpetrators. What is it that make these criminals tick? In each half-hour episode, DeLong uncovers the red flags that might just save a life.

On Friday, January 29, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered a 15-minute sneak peek of THE DEADLY TYPE WITH CANDICE DELONG. In the quarter-hour preview of "The Controller," Candice DeLong analyzes three master manipulators and uncovers the dangerous red flags that lead to tragedy. When Mr. or Mrs. Right comes along, reason can take a back seat to emotion, and a controlling personality can be deadly. DeLong explores how criminals used the trait to their advantage.

Five weeks later, THE DEADLY TYPE WITH CANDICE DELONG had its official series debut on Thursday, March 4, 2021, as discovery+ released the first three episodes:

"The Controller": When Mr. or Mrs. Rigth comes along, reason can take a back seat to emotion, and a controlling personality can be deadly. In this episode, Candice analyzes three master manipulators and uncovers the dangerous red flags that led to tragedy.

"The Transformer": One likes to think personalities don't change. Yet people often describe their partners as "not the person I married." Candice explores how certain circumstances -- emotional stress, financial hardship, drugs, and alcohol -- can unlock the killer within.

"The Predator": Like lions, human predators stalk their prey, identify the herd's most vulnerable, and then go in for the kill. But humans also use a more tactical weapon. Trust. Candice examines three cases where victims put their trust in the wrong people -- and paid.
