Plot Synopsis

With testimony from Death Row's featured artists and never-before-seen archival footage -- in addition to unreleased music from the Death Row vault -- DEATH ROW CHRONICLES is a six-episode documentary series that chronicles the unprecedented rise, fall and redemption of the renowned record label and the legacy it left behind. In 1991, mega producer Dr. Dre, Suge Knight and rapper The D.O.C., with support Michael 'Harry-O' Harris, started a record label that propelled West Coast rap to the forefront of the Hip Hop world. Dre released the label's first multiplatinum project "The Chronic"; Snoop Dogg followed up with his own multiplatinum debut "Doggystyle"; then Tupac's first record after being released from prison "All Eyez on Me" solidified Death Row's position as the hottest label in the business. In a short time, Death Row skyrocketed into prominence. But their success story began to garner as much attention for its mayhem as it did for its music. The climb to the top of the music industry was propelled by Suge Knight's intimidation tactics, including a battle with politician and activist C. Delores Tucker who vied for federal reform to get their music censored, contractual disputes involving Suge Knight and disgruntled artists and gang ties to the street which would prove fatal for Tupac. In the series, viewers hear an exclusive account of Tupac's murder from an eyewitness inside the shooter's car and previously undisclosed details about the incident discovered during an LAPD-led, joint task force investigation. BET premiered back-to-back episodes of DEATH ROW CHRONICLES from 10pm-Midnight ET/PT on three consecutive nights -- from Tuesday, February 20 through Thursday, February 22, 2018.

"Origin Story (1990-1992)" premieres 10pm Tuesday, February 20: A former bouncer, Suge Knight pries away talented producer Dr. Dre from Ruthless Records through intimidation and strong-arm tactics. He also funds the new enterprise by negotiating an investment from a notorious drug kingpin.

"The Rise of Death Row (1992-1993)" premieres 11pm Tuesday, February 20: Dr. Dre discovers Snoop Dogg, a petty drug slinger from Long Beach with a unique, laid-back rapping style. The L.A. riots proves that gangsta rap was prescient in voicing the problems of the Black community of Los Angeles.

"Enter Tupac (1993-1994)" premieres 10pm Wednesday, February 21: Despite the label's success, the crew cannot escape trouble. Suge is charged with assault and battery, Dre gets a DUI and is sent to jail for violating his parole, and Snoop Dogg is in the most serious legal trouble.

"Bloods vs. Crips (1995-1996)" premieres 11pm Wednesday, February 21: The East Coast/West Coast feud flares up after incidents in New York and Atlanta. Suge strengthens alliances with Bloods while Puffy links up with Crips. Tupac, fresh out of jail, experiences a creative explosion.

"Tupac's Murderer Revealed (1997-1999)" premieres 10pm Thursday, February 22: LAPD detective Greg Kading explains never-before-told details from the Tupac murder case and introduces viewers to Duane 'Keffe D' Davis, a highranking Southside Crip who has firsthand knowledge of the murder.

"Legacy on Trial (2000-Today)" premieres 11pm Thursday, February 22: Kading reveals details of Biggie's murder case, definitively explaining who was the culprit. After a mass exodus of talent, Death Row is a shell of its former self.
