Plot Synopsis

Narrated by Jon Cryer, DEVOURED is a one-hour documentary series that explores the intersection of true crime & food by tracking unbelievable stories of how food fuels criminal enterprises -- from recipe thefts and mob beatdowns to family betrayals and murder -- and how it forever altered the culinary landscape. Each 60-minute episode focuses on a single true-crime story that centers on one American city or region's food specialty. In the series opener, "A Slice of Pie," Brooklyn's L-and-B Spumoni Gardens and Pizzeria is a successful family business, but when the family's secret recipe is stolen, the mafia serves up some old-fashion justice. Later episodes feature: The Codfather, who ran one of the largest fishing operations in the United States until he was taken down by the IRS; the 2015 Blue Bell Ice Cream listeria outbreak; how infidelity and a stolen recipe led to the end of New York's world famous Carnegie Deli; and more.

On Monday, March 28, 2022 at 10pm ET/PT, VICE premiered "Great Hive Heist," the season finale of DEVOURED. In what was probably one of the largest bee heists in history, California's Central Valley fell victim to having hundreds of bee hives stolen by some thieves with sticky fingers.
