Plot Synopsis
DIRTY ROTTEN SURVIVAL is a one-hour reality series that follows home builder Johnny Littlefield, survival expert Dave Canterbury and engineer Dick Strawbridge as they travel across the United States using their know-how to survive adventures. In each 60-minute episode, the trio take a different journey. In their first challenge, the guys start at the oldest hardware store in America, and have five minutes to grab whatever tools they can for their 25-mile hike through the Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts. Once they're geared up, they set off along an unmarked, un-trailed wilderness where they have to rely on their skills, improvised tool kits and grit to get them up, over and down everything from steep cliffs to winding rivers. Then, the trio travels to Louisiana to see if they have the skills to get an old jeep through 50 miles of its largest swamp, the Atchafalaya Basin. They begin their adventure at a southern Louisiana mud park, where Dave has arranged to pick up an iconic World War II-era Jeep Willys that the guys use in their attempt to traverse the swamp. With no food, only one canteen of water a piece and just a small swamp survival kit each, the guys venture into the swamplands, and along their three-day journey, they jury-rig, jerry-build and doohickey their way out of crushing car trouble, tire-trapping mud and cold, and gator-infested waters in an all-out attempt to reach the end of their expedition. Next, Dave challenges Johnny and Dick to go car-camping in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Canterbury-style. Starting at a junkyard, they each select a vehicle to drive through the logging roads, staying at three different campsites over three nights and ending at the northernmost tip of Lake Superior. Using only their cars and a few demolition tools, the guys must take whatever they can find from their vehicles to use as camping resources for each night on the road. From cannibalizing their vehicles for comfort to a roadkill cooking challenge and even attempting to convert their cars into luxury shelters, the guys push their skills and creativity to places they never thought possible.

On Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, Nat Geo premiered the season finale of DIRTY ROTTEN SURVIVAL. In the season ender, "Fool's Gold," Dick takes the guys to Oregon, one of the forgotten frontiers of America's gold rush, for a mid-1800s-style prospecting adventure. To give the guys the best chance of finding gold, Dick picks up some panning supplies and reaches out to a local claim owner willing to let them work his property -- for the right price. Base camp is a mountain peak, crisscrossed by historically gold-baring streams and overlooked by a barren mine shaft.
