Plot Synopsis

Set in the fictional town of Playa Verde, Dora, now 10, lives in the city, attends school and is the center of a peer group that works together to give back to the community, while going on adventures together. Whether they're rescuing a lost stuffed monkey for a little boy in the hospital or returning a ring to an ancient Mayan Princess, Dora uses Map App on her smartphone and a magical charm bracelet to navigate the city and overcome any obstacles by being a good friend, leader, and problem-solver with a group of new friends: Kate, an avid reader who is dramatic and artistic; Naiya, a smart girl who excels at math and science; Emma, an accomplished musician with a drive to be the best; Alana, an athletic, confident soccer player and animal lover; and Pablo, a smart, playful, energetic athlete and explorer. In the series premiere, "Doggie Day!," Dora wants to shoot a video to help her friend Alana promote the animal shelter's Doggie Adoption Day. When Dora points her video camera at Cusco, one of the shelter's dogs, he magically starts singing a song about being separated from his brothers, so Dora and her friends head out to help Cusco reunite with his family. After premiering on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT on Nickelodeon, the series regularly aired weekdays at Noon ET/PT during the preschool block on Nickelodeon.

On Friday, September 18, 2015 at 12:30pm ET/PT, Nickelodeon premiered the first of three specials that follow Dora as she reunites with her old amigos -- including Boots, Backpack, Tico, Benny, Isa and Swiper -- while traveling on magical adventures with her new friends from Playa Verde. In this first special, "Return to the Rainforest," Dora's city friends travel back to the rainforest with Boots and embark on an epic journey to rescue Backpack and Map. In the subsequent specials, which will premiere later in 2015, Dora treks to Rainbow Rock with Boots, saves the show at an enchanted night circus, and even comes to Swiper's rescue.
