Plot Synopsis

Using real-life, first-person footage, EYEWITNESS WAR chronicles the chaos of battle through the eyes and ears of the men and women of the Army, Navy, Drug Enforcement Administration, Coast Guard and other forces. From screeching bullets to IEDs to rockets, these American service members embark on dangerous missions and endure the perils of war. Each 30-minute episode documents two different stories, including: two soldiers who push their vehicle to the limit while chasing down the enemy trying to escape on motorcycle; a team of soldiers patrols in the Zhari district, drawing fire from the Afghan National Army and being drawn into an ambush; a remote military outpost in the mountains of Afghanistan that is under Taliban siege during a hailstorm that affects visibility; a seasoned soldier discovers four of his rookies are stranded without weapons in the line of enemy fire near Kandahar; an army base wedged in the mountains of Afghanistan is under attack, and a rifleman's artery is severed when he's hit with flying shrapnel; a solider on his first deployment is thrown into his first firefight, encounters a suicide bomber, and provides backup; a team of soldiers in Charkh risks it all crossing into enemy territory to capture the Taliban; soldiers almost run out of ammunition as they bait enemy fire in the hopes of trapping enemy fighters; and many more tales of war.
