Plot Synopsis

Based on Carl Weber's book of the same name, THE FAMILY BUSINESS is a one-hour drama series that centers on the Duncans, a prominent family from Jamaica, Queens living fast and luxurious. By day, they're an upstanding family; by night, they live a dangerous secret life. The patriarch of the family, L.C. Duncan, is at the age when he's starting to think about retirement and has to decide which of his children should take over his thriving exotic car dealership. The Duncans quickly come under siege from some of the top politicians, mafia and drug cartels in the city. The Duncans have to stick together -- or die separately. In the series opener, "We Are At War," L.C. has decided it's finally time to pass on the mantle of leadership. All this during a time when their Asian supplier has cut them off, and their rivals are threatening to put them out of business.

THE FAMILY BUSINESS returned for its second season on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as BET+ (and BET+ via Amazon Prime) released the first six episodes of the new season. Season 2 picks up where the debut season concluded, as the Duncans work to calm tensions with rivals, The Zunigas. Family patriarch, L.C. Duncan and eldest son Orlando execute a plan to expand business operations with their proprietary drug 'heat,' but as they gain momentum in the venture, they face opposition from some old and new foes. For some in the Duncan clan, individual drama mounts that could threaten their lives and ruin the family business. Will they be able to stay intact and navigate these dangerous scenarios, or will things fall apart? Guest stars in Season 2 include LisaRaye McCoy, Eva LaRue, Michael Jai White, Christian Keyes, Treach, Robert Picardo, Travis Winfrey, Anthony Montgomery, Nicholas Turturro, Eric Roberts, Brely Evans, Sam Asghari, Flex Alexander, Buddy Lewis, Mario Rodriguez Jr., Franky G, Louie Ski Carr and Telma Hopkins. Season 2 of THE FAMILY BUSINESS had its linear television premiere on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 9-11pm ET/PT on BET, with a simulcast on BET Her, as the cable channels debuted the first two episodes of the new season.

Season 4 of THE FAMILY BUSINESS premiered on Thursday, September 1, 2022, as BET+ released the first two episodes. A new episode dropped each Thursday through November 3. The season opens with Larry hiring a new staff as he continues his takeover of Fresh Meadows; meanwhile, Junior gets a promotion, the Duncans throw a farewell dinner for Curtis, and the Hellfire Club has its grand opening. On Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT, BET aired the linear television premiere of the fourth season of THE FAMILY BUSINESS, with a simulcast on BET Her
THE FAMILY BUSINESS returned for its fifth season on Thursday, July 4, 2024 on BET+, which released the first two episodes of the new season. A new installment drops each Thursday. In the season opener, "The Aftermath," the Duncans try to put the pieces of their fractured family back together after Uncle Larry's rampage and Junior's revelation, and Vegas's release from prison comes with a heavy price. Then, in the second episode, "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures," LC goes to desperate lengths to protect his son Vegas and keep secrets of the past from boiling over, Mariah shares a secret fear with Nevada, and Orlando has a heart-to-heart with Junior.
