Plot Synopsis
FIXER UPPER: BEHIND THE DESIGN is a half-hour reality series that focuses on Joanna Gaines and her process of creating designs showcased in each episode of FIXER UPPER. She also reveals some never-before-seen design elements and shows how she, Chip and her design assistants work to meet their clients' needs and style while overcoming design challenges that pop up along the way. In the series opener, Joanna works with her design team to transform the "Little Shack on the Prairie" into a couple's dream home. Jo works with her design assistant and local artisans to customize every last detail of the home and even incorporates a fun surprise for the couple's two young children. On Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 11pm ET/PT, HGTV debuted FIXER UPPER: BEHIND THE DESIGN's pilot, and one year later -- on Tuesday, April 10 -- HGTV aired the official series premiere. In the series opener, "The Baker House," Joanna turns a little bungalow into a cozy cottage retreat for a woman after the passing of her husband. Jo gets to work creating a dream home with light neutral colors, natural wood elements and spaces to hang photos and memorabilia. Chip and Jo also surprise her with a charming and efficient powder bathroom.
