Plot Synopsis

After a global financial crisis, the world is engulfed in an AI-driven "sustainable war." It's up to Section 9 to counter new forms of cyber threats. Working as mercenaries in the United States in 2045, the Major and her team, including newbie Stan, defend a gated town from outlaws. Togusa takes a call. Armed by a generous patron, the Nomads attack Section 9 with AI drones. Togusa accepts a new mission from Japan's peace-seeking Prime Minister. Based on the 1980s manga "Ghost in the Shell," GHOST IN THE SHELL: SAC_2045 premiered on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released 12 half-hour episodes.
