Plot Synopsis
Based on journalist Roberto Saviano's book of the same name, GOMORRAH is an Italian television series that focuses on the inside story of the Camorra, the fierce Neapolitan crime organization, told through the eyes of Ciro Di Marzio, the right hand of the clan's godfather, Pietro Savastanno. The series charts the course of the great criminal empire -- lead by the Savastanos -- and explores the complex family ties and interpersonal dynamics within this dangerous world. SundanceTV broadcast the U.S. premiere of this series on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 10pm-12:30am.
On Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 10pm-Midnight, SundanceTV released the U.S. premiere of the second season of GOMORRAH, with back-to-back episodes. Season 2 picks up moments after the end of the first season: Pietro has escaped from the prison van; Genny's boys have been downed in Conte's ambush; and Ciro has shot Genny. The era of the Savastano clan, which once reigned supreme over Naples, seems to be definitively over, and many compete for what was once the Savastano Empire. Only one thing is certain: the future will belong to the one who can tighten the bonds of power most forcefully.
Season 3 of GOMORRAH had its U.S. premiere on Thursday, January 21, 2021, as HBO Max released the entire 12-episode new season. Genny takes control and ultimately rules over Naples and Rome. Within his network two women rise to power: Annalisa, named "Scianel," a key drug pusher and a natural leader, and Patrizia, one of Genny's most faithful foot soldiers. When Ciro forms a new partnership with the young and ambitious Enzo, a light that once vanished from Ciro's eyes reappears. The former street-level drug dealers cast their net far beyond the city of Naples and the borders of Italy. Genny, Ciro and Enzo are about to make peace, when Enzo demands a sacrifice.
The 12-episode fourth season of GOMORRAH had its U.S. premiere on Thursday, May 20, 2021, as HBO Max released the entire new season. Season 4 clearly turns the spotlight on Genny, the lone Savastano dynasty survivor: a character who has shed countless skins in the process of morphing from Don Pietro's spoiled brat into family boss, husband and father. In fact, the new season sees him on his best behavior precisely for the sake of Azzurra and little Pietro: with his own family to protect and an activity to reboot, he feels the need for a major life change, committing to legit business while sneaking out, as best he can, from the world his father had him grow up in. His interests in Naples are now entrusted to Patrizia who, having first betrayed and then killed Scianel, former female leader of The Alliance, has earned her rank within the Savastano clan. Along with Genny, to level the scores and keep the peace in gangland, they will lean on the Levante clan, a branch of late Donna Imma's family. Meanwhile Enzo and Valerio, having tightened their grip over the central Naples turf, are faced with new challenges.

The fifth and final season of GOMORRAH made its U.S. debut on Thursday, January 27, 2022, as HBO Max released the entire 10-episode new season. The clash between the Levantes and Patrizia left Naples in a pile of bricks forcing Genny to give up his dream of normality and return to action. But with the police hot on Genny's heels, he is forced into a bunker alone without Azzurra and Little Pietro. Now, his only ally is 'O Maestrale, the mysterious crime boss of Ponticelli, an eastern district of Naples. War is imminent, and his enemies are fierce, but Genny is about to make a sensational discovery: Ciro Di Marzio is alive in Latvia. And for Genny, nothing will ever be the same again.
