Plot Synopsis

In this half-hour comedy series, Grace and Frankie are two women whose lives are turned upside down -- and permanently intertwined -- when their husbands reveal they are gay and leave them for each other. Elegant, proper Grace and freewheeling, eccentric Frankie aren't friends, even though their husbands Robert and Sol have been law partners for decades. The two women start to bond in ways they never expected, and they help each other deal with the aftermath of their messy divorces and the effects they have on their equally frazzled children. Together, they must face starting over in their 70s in a 21st century world, including when Grace and Frankie decide to go back to work. On Friday, May 8, 2015 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released all 13 episodes of GRACE AND FRANKIE's first season.

The second season of GRACE AND FRANKIE debuted Friday, May 6, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire 13-episode second season, as the unlikely roommates continue to explore their newly single lives -- and relationships with new dating prospects. The new season begins just moments after the final scene of the previous season, as Sol returns home to Robert after having sex with Frankie.

Season 3 of GRACE AND FRANKIE premiered on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire 13-episode third season. According to creator Marta Kauffman in an interview with deadline.com, the third season deals with Grace and Frankie "living their lives and how do you live your life in the aftermath of all this, and included in that is the idea of these women becoming self-determined women in their late 70s." Marta continued that the third season takes viewers into "the truth of aging in the world and how the world looks at you, including in business. How do you deal with the contemporary world when you aren't used to things like disruptors and tech companies and starting business and getting a loan at this age."

Netflix released the 13-episode fourth season of GRACE AND FRANKIE on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. Lisa Kudrow joins the cast for the new season as Sheree, Grace's longtime manicurist -- and new lodger -- whose newfound friendship threatens to drive a wedge between Grace and Frankie. In the new season, as Grace and Frankie muddle through ups and downs with their business, romantic relationships and families, they must face some realities of aging. The season opens with Frankie feeling left out of Grace's friendship with Sheree; meanwhile, Sol and Robert are arrested, and Bud and Allison throw a gender-reveal party.

Season 5 of GRACE & FRANKIE premiered on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire 13-episode new season. After rebelling against their kids' wishes, Grace and Frankie contend with work issues, ageism, the men in their lives -- and each other. The season opens with Grace and Frankie visiting the beach house while their worried kids try to track them down. Robert and Sol are caught in an embarrassing situation. Refusing to leave the beach house, Grace and Frankie get support from their ex-husbands -- who are having their own issues with an unexpected visitor.

GRACE & FRANKIE returned for its 13-episode sixth season on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire season. In the season opener, "The Newlyweds," Frankie is stunned by Grace's news, but she buries her feelings -- until everyone gathers together to send off Bud and Allison. Then, while Frankie tries to adjust to living alone, Grace arranges a family dinner that takes an awkward turn. Robert and Sol plan a honeymoon trip.

On Friday, August 13, 2021, Netflix released the first four episodes of GRACE & FRANKIE's seventh and final season. Tensions run high at the beach house now that Grace, Frankie, Robert and Sol are all living there together -- and driving each other bonkers.

Netflix released the final 12 episodes of GRACE & FRANKIE on Friday, April 29, 2022. Seven years ago, Grace and Frankie's lives turned upside down when their longtime husbands left them for... each other. Both sparring partners and partners-in-crime, Grace and Frankie formed an unlikely and unbreakable bond as they faced uncertain futures head-on, and hand-in-hand. They've laughed together, cried together, did shrooms together, and twice-over became successful entrepreneurs together. A history-making 94 episodes later, Grace and Frankie continue to show themselves, their families, and their fans what it means to live life to the fullest, fearlessly and unapologetically. Here's to seven seasons of laughs, tears, mood-enhancers, and good vibes. And, as Grace and Frankie would say, f**k it. This may be their final chapter, but they're just getting started. Dolly Parton guest stars. Season 7 episodes include:

"The Roomies": With their exes living at the beach house and FBI agents who arrested Nick sniffing around, Grace and Frankie frantically search for the money they hid.

"The Arraignment": While Frankie retrieves the cash, Grace and Nick discuss their marriage at his arraignment. Joan-Margaret hatches a plan for laundering the money.

"The Bunny": Bud tries to soothe discord at the beach house by throwing a brunch for the two families; but revelations from the past create even more hard feelings.

"The Circumcision": Nick has a chance to get out of jail, but Grace likes things the way they are; meanwhile, an old acquaintance helps Frankie with the money laundering.

"The Racoon": Grace and Frankie adjust to their new housemate, Robert and Sol join the neighborhood watch and Brianna reveals too much when she meets Barry's parents.

"The Wire": The ladies try to help Nick reduce his sentence by implicating his partner. Sol attempts to catch a thief while Mallory establishes dominance at work.

"The Pyshcic": Grace and Frankie scramble to keep their friend Arlene from being moved into memory care. Nicks gets in the way of Coyote's romantic plans.

"The Bonida Bandidas": Brianna and Mallory work with a conflict mediator who doesn't exactly have a great track record. Grace and Frankie try to smuggle drugs out of Mexico.

"The Prediction": Grace gets a distressing phone call that has Frankie questioning the future. Sol worries that Robert is experiencing memory loss.

"The Panic Attacks": After a trip to the ER, Frankie takes Grace to a therapist. Brianna brainstorms her next move and Coyote hits a snag in his marriage plans.

"The Horrible Family": Frankie decides to celebrate every annual holiday and special occasion in rapid succession. Grace finds a shocking connection to a rising politician.

"The Casino": The ladies don disguises and head to a casino to spy on Coyote. Brianna also pretends to be someone she's not to appease a potential investor.

"The Last Hurrah": Coyote confirms Allison's suspicion that Bud is lying to her. Grace goes after Nick for his tell-all book. Frankie seeks a happy ending of her own.

"The Paprikash": Grace craves a comforting dish from her childhood, but only her estranged brother has the recipe. Sol and Peter team up to blackmail a theater critic.

"The Fake Funeral": Frankie throws herself a funeral, leaving Grace to attend an important meeting alone. To Brianna's annoyance, her family rallies around Barry.

"The Beginning": Robert finally comes to terms with his memory loss. Grace and Frankie confront the possibility of immediate death -- or aging for a few more years.
