Plot Synopsis

HGTV DESIGN STAR winner Meg Caswell travels back to her hometown in Chicago to identify "design crimes" and transform tired, outdated kitchens and great rooms into gorgeous spaces. In each 30-minute episode, Caswell and her team perform makeovers for one homeowner, including: Kim and Andy, who had an outdated kitchen with no flow, no function and no personality before Caswell transformed it into a space with a new galley layout that opened it up to create a cozy dining area on one end, and a unique, deconstructed bar for entertaining on the other side; Karen and Wayne, who inherited a kitchen with pink countertops, pink sink and even a pink oven before Caswell turned it into a sleek kitchen with an underlying Asian-inspired theme that unified all of their spaces; Monique, who was stuck with a kitchen that had cheap, laminate parquet tile on the floor and a drop-down ceiling before Caswell made it over into a space with bold, colorful features to match Monique's diva personality including a vibrant glass backsplash, a sculptural flower installation created by a local artist, and a custom-coved metallic ceiling; Heather and Tony, who bought cheap furniture on the internet and kept their wall as exposed brick before Caswell replaced everything with a sophisticated and cohesive design that reflected their fun and funky side, including a custom-built loft with wood pillars and unique furnishings that created the Bohemian look they love; and Ari and Orly, who had a mess of a kitchen in their half bungalow/half trailer park before Caswell created an updated art deco kitchen with a grand center island, complete with a built-in banquette.
