Plot Synopsis

HOSTAGE 911 is a one-hour docuseries that focuses on negotiators, who have recorded harrowing conversations with criminals that have taken people hostage. Each 60-minute episode chronicles a different standoff, presenting their conversations with criminals as negotiators break down their psychological tactics. HOSTAGE 911 debuted with back-to-back episodes on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 10pm-Midnight ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the series opener, "Get Her Out Alive" (10pm), a man takes his wife hostage after she demands a divorce. Negotiators plead with the suspect to let her go but have no idea there is another plan going on inside the house that could have fatal consequences. Then, in the second episode, "He's Wearing a Bomb!," an ex-felon with an axe to grind takes his former lawyer hostage, threatening to detonate a bomb if he doesn't get justice.

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 10pm ET/PT, Investigation Discovery premiered "My Husband's Coming to Kill Us," the season finale of HOSTAGE 911. A dance teacher receives a message from her ex-husband, who is holding a gun to his head: he claims he's en route to the dance studio and threatens to murder the family; officers race to beat him to the scene, pleading with him to stand down.
