Plot Synopsis

Created and executive-produced by Gabrielle Allan, Jennifer Crittenden and Clea DuVall, HOUSEBROKEN is a half-hour animated comedy series that follows a group of neighborhood pets and stray animals as they work through their issues inside and outside their therapy group. The series takes an irreverent look at human behavior, but told through the filter of an offbeat group of neighborhood pets. Throughout the series, the show centers on the pets' dysfunctional relationships and their skewed world view, while exploring relevant societal issues in fun and unique ways.

Honey, a standard poodle, opens her living room for the group to come and support each other through the misery, mayhem and majesty that is being a pet. Honey also struggles with her own problems, such as her arranged (by her human) marriage with Chief, a sloppy St. Bernard who enjoys eating socks and licking himself. The group includes Shel, a sex-positive tortoise with intimacy issues and a knack for choosing unconventional partners; Tabitha, an aging Persian cat beauty queen, trying to adjust to life off the cat show circuit; The Gray One, a street smart cat who lives with about thirty other cats and has his one eye on Tabitha; Chico, a chonky, co-dependent and very naive cat; and the group's newest member, Diablo, an anxious, sweater-wearing terrier whose OCD causes him to hump everything twice. Among the group's other members are Elsa, a power hungry, know-it-all Corgi, and fake service dog, who drives Honey crazy; Nibbles, a psychopathic hamster who is mourning the loss of her mate (whose face she ate...and everyone knows it); Max, George Clooney's pig, a former actor and current status obsessed a-hole; Bubbles, a horny, teenage goldfish who lives with Honey and Chief, and heckles the animals any chance she gets; Tchotchke, a silent, and possibly magical, slow loris with a mysterious past, who uses a tiny cocktail umbrella to express his emotions; and Jill, Honey and Chief's human owner.

Season 2 of HOUSEBROKEN premiered on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 9:30pm ET/PT on FOX. In the season opener, "Who's Obsessed? (A Lifetime Original)," when Chief joins a walking group, a beautiful dog named Ruby tries to get close to him, but her intentions are not what they seem. Elsa's quest to make female friends gets derailed when she becomes suspicious of Ruby. Meanwhile, Chico befriends some bro fleas. On Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 9-10pm ET/PT, Fox premiered back-to-back new episodes to close out HOUSEBROKEN's second season:

"Who's a Mole?" (9pm): Honey struggles with a lack of trust in Group when one of the members starts revealing the group's secrets. Chief refuses to take his urinary tract infection meds in a pill pocket, instead holding out for the "ultimate treat". The Gray One dreams of being the cat who sleeps atop the microwave. "Who's a Winner?" (9:30pm): When Honey and Chief are sent to a herding camp, Honey's competitive spirit gets out of control. Max goes to a farm to research an upcoming acting role and learns something about himself. Elsa must confront a traumatic mistake from her past.
