Plot Synopsis

Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, THE HUNT FOR VEERAPPAN is a four-part docuseries that follows the rise and fall of Veerappan, a dreaded smuggler whose bloody reign sparked a 20-year-long manhunt in south India. Veerappan, the most infamous outlaw in the 1990s in India, was known as the "Robin Hood of India," and his gang was responsible for the deaths of more nearly 200 people, making him one of the most feared criminals in the country. his reign of terror finally came to an end on October 18, 2004, when the Tamil Nadu Special Task Force captured him and three of his associates. All four episodes of THE HUNT FOR VEERAPPAN dropped on Friday, August 4, 2023 on Netflix:

"Chapter One: The Forest": As Veerappan builds his criminal empire, a long-standing rivalry with police is ignited. A rift with a senior officer launches an extensive manhunt.

"Chapter Two: The Bloodbath": Violence and bloodshed erupts across the forest and in villages as Veerappan retaliates against the police.

"Chapter Three: The Revolutionary": In a brazen move, Veerappan abducts movie star Dr. Rajkumar, stoking fury in Karnataka and sending politicians into chaos in two states.

"Chapter Four: The Way Out": Seeking to live a quiet life with his family away from police scrutiny, Veerappan plans his next steps -- until a covert ruse finally seals his doom.
