Plot Synopsis

IMPASTOR is a half-hour dark comedy series that focuses on Buddy Dobbs, a slacker who's on the run from a loan shark, so he steals a man's identity and ends up posing as a small town's new gay pastor. Just when he's about to end his misery and jump off a bridge, a reverend shows up and talks Buddy down. When the reverend slips off the bridge and falls to his death, he leaves Buddy with the unlikely opportunity to steal his identity, leaving his bartender ex-girlfriend Leanne to clean up the huge mess he left behind. Buddy begins to settle into his new life as a pastor with the help of his preppy new assistant Dora, alluring church treasurer Alexa and enthusiastic secretary Russell -- but the church president, Alden Schmidt, senses that something isn't quite right. Curing sex crazed teenagers, stealing kids' weed and reading Bible scripture may not be a bad gig for Buddy after all. Only time will tell how long he can keep up the facade. TV Land premiered a sneak-peek episode of this series on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 10:30pm ET/PT, six weeks before the official series premiere on Wednesday, July 16, 2015 at 10:30pm ET/PT, which was simulcast on Nick at Nite. TV Land premiered Season 2 of IMPASTOR on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 10:30pm ET/PT, three months after it was originally scheduled on Sunday, June 26. The new season picks up at the cliffhanger in the Season 1 finale where Buddy Dobbs' past had finally started to catch up with him when Damien, the man he owed money to, came calling. In the season opener, "The Devil Went Down to Ladner," Buddy's attempt to outfox the detectives backfires. Dora, Alexa, and Russell suspect something ominous is going on with their new pastor. Schmidt learns the truth about Ashlee.

On Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 10:30pm ET/PT, TV Land premiered the Season 2 finale of IMPASTOR. In the season ender, "Thy Neighbor's Wife," Buddy deals with the shocking arrival of Alexa's husband. Dora makes a frightening discovery. Schmidt's engagement party takes an unexpected turn.
